The start of the Hobby
We went to the Brouwmarkt in Almere and bought 200 euros worth of brewing equipment. That day we brewed our first beer, at home in Do's kitchen. In a 30 liter pan. We learned the ins and outs of the brewing process through trial and error.
2015
The first tap
We had our first real tasting appointment at the Parel on the Westerstraat in Amsterdam. That was a success, the owner loved it! Two months later we brewed 500 liters of Tricky Tripel and 500 liters of Gin Weizen at the Noord Hollandse Bierbrouwerij in Uitgeest. The first professionally brewed beers came from the brewery and we registered with the Chamber of Commerce.

Quit our jobs
The hobby got completely out of hand. We knew there was a lot of demand for our beer, but we did not have time to follow up all leads. We decided to quit our jobs. Very exciting! When we finally had time for our customers, turnover grew rapidly and we were able to pay ourselves our first salary after three months.
2016
First employee hired
In the second half of 2016, Gebrouwen door Vrouwen went crazy. We sold more and more beer but had less and less time to deliver it. Then we found our third sister: Mila. She started working for us and helped build the company.
2017
On the shelf at a big retailer
We participated in the Product Pitch of Albert Heijn and won! With a coach and an investment budget from AH, our beer hit the shelves. Finally our beer was available nationwide in the Netherlands.
2018
To China to drink our beer there
When a number of pallets of Gebrouwen door Vrouwen (Brewed by Women) beer were shipped to China, we wanted to see who drank our beer there. We flew to Shanghai and drank our own beer in the craft bars there, among the expats and Chinese beer lovers. And we brewed a beer with the local brewery Reberg, a Milk Stout with stroopwafels and White Rabbits (Chinese sweets).
2018
A million beers sold in 1 year
For the first time, we sold over 1 million beers in 1 year. A mega milestone and still a magical number.
2019
Opening of our BAR
Because we are gypsy brewers, we missed a place where people could come to experience the brand. We dreamt of our own pub. After two years searching for the perfect location, we found our BAR in 2019. A small venue on the Jan Pieter Heijestraat in Amsterdam. We opened the doors in March 2019 and since then we have been throwing parties, pub quizzes and tastings. Our flag ship is our favorite spot in the city.

Book release
"Do you want to write your own book?" We received this email from a literary agent. Yes, of course we do! Together with writer Eva de Jong, we wrote down the first five years of our brewing adventure. Everything about building a company, brewing beer and doing business as a woman in a man's world is covered in this cheerful book.
